Resolution to Accept Apostolic Constitution Approved by Parish.

Following the 10:15 Mass on Sunday, December 5, Christian Campbell (Senior Warden), Carla Hansen (Parish Treasurer), Joseph Koehler (parish member and witness) and myself certified the results of the congregational vote on the proposed Resolution that the Cathedral accept the terms of the Apostolic Constitution Anglicanorum Coetibus and request admission, at the earliest possible moment, to the anticipated personal ordinariate to be erected in the United States.

The congregation voted overwhelmingly in favor of the proposed Resolution, and, having achieved the two-thirds majority required under the parish bylaws, the Resolution is adopted.

On behalf of the Bishop, the clergy, and the lay-leadership of the parish, I would like to thank you for the trust and confidence that you have placed in us as we seek to lead you to the absolute fullness of the Faith. Together we will move forward on the path that God has laid before us, and with the continued guidance and empowerment of the Holy Spirit, we will together grow in the fullness of the grace and knowledge of Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

As always, please feel free to contact me should you have any questions, comments, or concerns regarding this matter; my door is always open!

Gloria Deo,

Fr. Mark+

Resolution of Cathedral Chapter Regarding Anglicanorum Coetibus

The Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary

With profound gratitude and filial respect to the Successor of St. Peter, the Chapter of the Cathedral of the Incarnation warmly receives the Apostolic Constitution, Anglicanorum Coetibus, of His Holiness, Pope Benedict XVI.

Having prayerfully considered the aforementioned papal legislation, along with its associated Complementary Norms, and with due regard for the accompanying canonical commentary by Fr. Gianfranco Ghirlanda, S.J., Rector of the Pontifical Gregorian University (all published under the auspices of the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith on November 4, 2009) and recognizing in the Holy Father’s most generous response to the pleas of various Anglican groups our common desire and holy commitment to achieve the reconciliation of our small flock with the Catholic Church in a corporate fashion and with due regard to our own precious Anglican Patrimony, the Cathedral Chapter now unanimously resolves:

1. that the Bishop of the Diocese of the Eastern United States, the Dean of the Cathedral, and Officers of the Chapter be authorized to communicate directly with the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith (CDF) or its authorized liaison for the territory of the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops (USCCB) on behalf of the Cathedral of the Incarnation to the end that the Cathedral parish eventually be received in its integrity into the full communion of the Catholic Church through an Anglican Personal Ordinariate as envisioned by Anglicanorum Coetibus; and,

2. that the text of this Resolution be published immediately on the parish web site and the online journal, The Anglo-Catholic, with copies to be posted directly to the Holy Father, William Cardinal Levada, Prefect of the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith, and the authorized liaison for the United States of America.

Signed,

Very Rev. Fr. Mark Siegel
Dean of the Cathedral

Christian Clay Campbell
Rector’s Warden

Ernest Parker
People’s Warden

As an expression of the unanimity of the Bishop and Parish Clergy, the Chapter welcomes their signatures to this Resolution.

Archbishop Wuerl Appointed Pastoral Delegate for the U.S.
Posted on September 23, 2010 by Br. Stephen Treat, O.Cist

As had been rumored for several months, today the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops has issued a
press release confirming that Archbishop Donald Wuerl of Washington has been appointed Pastoral Delegate for the U.S. for Anglicanorum Coetibus.  Let us welcome Archbishop Wuerl and keep him in our prayers.

Doctrine Of The Faith Congregation Names Archbishop Wuerl To Guide Bringing Anglican Groups Into Catholic Church In U.S.

WASHINGTON (September 23, 2010) — The Vatican Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith (CDF) has named Archbishop Donald Wuerl of Washington to guide the incorporation of Anglican groups into the Catholic Church in the United States.

In this position, he is a delegate of the congregation and heads the U.S. bishops’ ad hoc committee charged with assisting CDF in implementing the apostolic constitution Anglicanorum coetibus. Pope Benedict XVI issued the document in November 2009 to provide for establishing personal ordinariates for Anglican groups who seek to enter corporately into full communion with the Catholic Church.

The personal ordinariate is a canonical structure similar to a diocese that covers the area of a bishops’ conference. This permits the incoming Anglicans to be part of the Catholic Church while maintaining aspects of their Anglican heritage and liturgical practice.

Other members of the ad hoc committee are Bishop Kevin Vann of Fort Worth, Texas, and Bishop Robert McManus of Worcester, Massachusetts. The committee will be assisted by Father Scott Hurd, who was ordained an Episcopal priest in 1993, joined the Catholic Church in 1996, and was ordained a Catholic priest for the Archdiocese of Washington in 2000. Father Hurd will assist Archbishop Wuerl as staff to the ad hoc committee and a liaison to the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops (USCCB).

Interested Anglicans are asked to contact Archbishop Wuerl through the Washington Archdiocese.

The ad hoc committee has two tasks:
1. To facilitate the implementation of Anglicanorum coetibus in the United States
2. To assess the level of interest in such an ordinariate in the United States.
