Jul 18, 2021    Rev. Jamie Sosnowski    Zechariah 13:7-9 and John 10:11-18

This week, we look to Jesus as the Good Shepherd in John 10. We pair this well known passage of the Good Shepherd with a strange prophecy in Zechariah 13 in which God says that His shepherd will be struck down and then the sheep will scatter. It is the same prophecy that Jesus quotes during his arrest before the crucifixion. Following along in this prophecy we find that the scattered sheep end up being refined like gold. Eventually, God restates that they are his people and the people reciprocate this relationship. It leads us to ask the question: How is it that times of difficulty lead us into a deeper relationship with God?
